Sexual disorders in Women:
The most common sexual disorder in women is low sexual desire or hypoactive desire.
Aversion to sex is also an issue for some women (often as a result of early sexual trauma) as
well as inhibited orgasm. There are two sexual pain disorders that occur in women:
Dyspareunia, or painful intercourse, and Vaginismus, the involuntary spasmodic vaginal
muscle contractions that occur during attempted intercourse.
Sexual disorders in Men:
The most common sexual disorder in men is premature ejaculation. Low libido also occurs in
men, as does ejaculatory incompetence (lack of male orgasm), and erectile dysfunction (ED),
the inability of males to attain or sustain erection long enough for intercourse. Causes of these
disorders include diseases that affect circulation (atherosclerosis, diabetes, high blood
pressure), psycho-emotional factors ( stress, depression, and performance anxiety), substance
abuse, certain medications, and injury to the penis.
GLOW Counseling and Denver Sex Therapy offer sex therapy, counseling, and
